Funchal eats early by southern-European standards. Most kitchens take their last order around 22:00, and by 23:00 a lot of the centre is shuttered — which catches out anyone arriving on a late flight or coming down off a long walk. The venues below are the ones we have verified as running past midnight.

- Late kitchens are rarer than late bars — if you need food rather than drinks, call ahead after 22:00.
- Clubs in the Old Town and around the harbour do not fill until well after midnight, whatever their opening time says.
- Taxis thin out after 02:00; the ranks on Avenida do Mar and Praça do Município are the most reliable.
- Hours shift between summer and winter. Every page shows the date we last checked in person.
