When to visit Madeira
The short answer: April–May and September–October are the sweet spot — warm dry days (21–24 °C), swimmable sea (20–23 °C), a full hiking calendar and no summer-holiday crowds. July–August are hottest and busiest, best for festivals and sea swimming. January–February are cheapest and quietest — good for hiking, Carnival and value. October–March is when the rain falls, almost entirely on the north coast.
