Marginal

Small late-night club near Funchal's port with a house-music focus and resident DJs. Doesn't really get going until around 11 PM and runs through to about 4 AM — an intimate dancefloor rather than a big-room club.

About Marginal

Marginal is a late-night club in Funchal — Port

Doors open around 23:00 and the floor fills after midnight — proper late-night territory. Cover charges are rare except on big-event nights; drinks are priced for the venue, not the neighbourhood.

Marginal is one room inside the Vespas Club complex on Avenida Sá Carneiro, which also houses the Vespas and Jam rooms. The room only opens Friday and Saturday late nights.

What to know before you go

  • Cards accepted at the bar; some clubs run cash-only cloakrooms on busy nights.
  • Friday–Saturday 23:00–08:00 only. Closed all other days.
  • Compact indoor space — busy nights can mean standing near the bar.
  • Walking distance from most central hotels; the harbour-front promenade is the safest late-night route back.

Best time to visit

Year-round. Friday and Saturday are the peak nights; Sunday through Wednesday are much quieter.
