What you're looking at
This HD camera looks south across Funchal Marina and the Avenida do Mar, with the yacht pontoons and the cruise quay filling the frame and the open Atlantic beyond. You can see the marina's painted harbour walls, the promenade cafés along the avenue and, on the right, the road that carries every parade the city stages. It is a tighter, lower view than the Pontinha camera — less landscape, far more human activity.
Best time to check this camera
Cruise arrivals happen early, so between 06:00 and 08:00 you can watch ships manoeuvre onto the berth. In the evening the marina and avenue light up and the promenade fills. This is also the camera to bookmark for events: Carnival parades in February, the Flower Festival parade in spring and the New Year's Eve fireworks, which are launched over this exact stretch of bay and are visible live from this feed.

Yes. The display is fired from barges and hillside positions around Funchal bay, directly in front of this camera, so the feed carries it live at midnight on 31 December. Expect heavy viewer load on the stream at that moment, and note that the fireworks also appear on the wider Pontinha and São Roque city cameras.
