About Beanup
The menu we saw runs from toasties, avocado and poached egg on focaccia, Turkish eggs, a full English breakfast and waffles to lunch dishes such as a house burger, a prego in bolo do caco, a falafel and hummus bowl and a salad of the day.
Coffee is the focus: espresso, flat white and other milk drinks, V60 and Chemex filter, cold brew and iced coffee, with oat milk available. The beans are roasted in the glass-walled roastery corner at the back of the café.
What to know before you go
- Expect espresso, flat whites and filter brews rather than the standard Portuguese bica. Prices sit slightly above a corner café but quality is markedly higher.
- Outdoor seating fills first on sunny mornings, arrive before 10:30 or after 14:00 to find a terrace table.
- Wi-Fi is free and reliable enough for email and calls, though tables are shared at peak times.

Best time to visit
Year-round. Mornings (08:00–11:00) are the most local, with fresh pastries and the after-work espresso ritual. Afternoons are quieter, better for a longer sit.
