About Onion Festival
Onion Festival is where Caniço, Santa Cruz shows off what it grows or lands. The stalls are cooperative-run, the portions are generous, and the May evenings run long enough that dinner turns into music and music turns into dancing.
The stalls open around lunchtime and stay running until the folk groups finish, which on the busier nights is past midnight. Pace yourself; the temptation is to eat everything in the first hour.
