About Calhau Beach Club
Calhau Beach Club is a mid-range international, seafood, mediterranean and beach club restaurant in Calheta
If you only order one thing, make it the beach-club lunches — shrimp gazpacho, tacos and boards — on the calheta seafront — it's what the kitchen is known for and what regulars come back for.
Calhau Beach Club sits on the seafront below the Saccharum resort, right by Calheta's golden sand beach and marina. The terrace is the draw: rough timber decking, tree-trunk stools and a thatched pergola strung with hanging plants, with the sound of the sea a few metres away. It's a sandals-and-sunglasses sort of place — come straight off the beach.
The menu is built for long, lazy lunches: shrimp gazpacho topped with burrata, prawn tacos, filled bao-bun boards to share, big salads and chips, plus juices, wine and cocktails. Service is relaxed — don't rush — and the people-watching from the front tables is part of the entertainment. It's busiest on sunny weekends, so booking ahead in summer is wise: +351 291 820 300.
